Sebago 2011 Dates Confirmed0 comments
I have received our confirmation receipt for this years group camping reservations at Sebago State Park. This year we will be completely on the river side at sites R1 & R2 starting Friday, July 8 through Monday, July 18. Again it took me a while to get through this year. When I did, our first choices of weeks and sites were already taken. According to Donna, she had indicated that there were many first time groups making reservations this year. It appears that our favorite spot has become more popular. As I sit here writing this, we are getting another April Fools snow storm. It seems like such a long way before the boats are in the water. Don't be fooled, sailing season will be here before you know it!
Happy New Year Sailors .... 20110 commentsGreetings from the Commodore Happy New Year, 2011. WoW. That went by Fast! The Fall Party/Meeting has been move to the Winter/Spring of 2011. Trophies are order and should be picked up soon. We have some new teams at the top of the season points for 2010 so we need to show up and congratulate the winning teams when we get together. I apologizing for the Commodore hiatus, we recently undertook a major renovation on the home kitchen, if anyone needs some advise I would recommend a local Realtor. Move, Buy a new house, live at the local park in a box,, do not renovate the kitchen,,, it has been brutal but finally over in time for the holidays. The 2010 season was good. Good sailing, good friends, good fun. The Fleet had a successful year. We need to first plan out Sebago 2011. The reservations for Sebago Lake are due February first. I will get together with Mr. Malcolm and Mr. Decker this weekend and we will come up with some possible dates that will fit into the sailing schedule, then we can perform a conference call or email vote on the dates for Sebago or a meeting to determine the dates for Sebago lake 2011. More to come. Happy New Year Fleet. P.S. I am putting together a second Ice Boat, if any one has some interest in sailing on Hardwater contact me to take it for a ride!

History
C.R.A.N.N.E. came together in 1998 when Hobie Fleet 209 and Prindle Fleet 80, a mixed catamaran fleet from all over northern New England merged. A new fleet name was established to represent this truly mixed fleet of beach catamarans sailing enthusiasts.
We are a family friendly group and have several events that the fleet for both the recreational sailor as well as competitive sailor. During the summer months we hold events at Sebago Lake State park in Casco ME. These events are great family orientated events that include tent camping as well as wonderful fresh water sailing. At night we kick back by the campfire and tell tales of great sailing while roasting marshmallows for s’mores. C.R.A.N.N.E. volunteers staff the Pine Point-Old Orchard Beach regatta held in Scarborough ME each August. We also have a "Homeport" regatta which is hosted at the home of one of our fleet members at Great Pond in Belgrade Lakes ME. We race during the day then come back in and have a summer New England lobster feast. Due to the space and financial reasons, we reserve this regatta to fleet members only. Anyone interested in beach catamaran sailing in New England are encouraged to join us.
